My name is Chi Ethridge and I am Mecosta’s principal.  I have worked as both a teacher and the High School Assistant Principal in Chippewa Hills. My husband currently teaches at the Intermediate School and we have 5 children, three of whom attend Mecosta.  We are very dedicated Warriors and support both academic and after school functions as a way to encourage student success. 

Mecosta Elementary houses preschool through 5th grade and is made up of approximately 275 students.  Our dedicated staff consists of 16 teaching staff, 2 kitchen staff, 2 custodians, and 9 support staff.  The school day begins at 7:20 and ends at 2:27. 

The mission of Mecosta Elementary is to work with our community to provide a positive environment that will challenge and assist all students to reach their highest potential.  We believe that all students can learn and that learning is a lifelong process.  We believe that a positive environment is one that fosters physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth.  We believe that it is our responsibility to work as a team to provide each child with the services they need and that a positive self-concept is important.    Finally, we believe that education achievement and citizenship are the joint responsibility of parents, students, staff, and the community.
