This lake is the fourth largest of the Great Lakes and the world's twelfth largest freshwater lake.

Bordered by: states of Michigan, New York, Ohio, & Pennsylvania,
and province of Ontario, Canada

Shoreline: 871 miles of fairly smooth and unbroken shores;
Because of its fertile soils this basin is intensively farmed and is the most densely populated of the five lake basins.

Special Features: Niagara Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world;
