This light was built to mark this dangerous shoal near the Cheboygan Harbor entrance.

LOCATION: In 14 ft. of water, North of Cordwood Point, Straits of Mackinac, Lake Huron

LIGHTHOUSE MATERIALS: Reinforced concrete / steel

TOWER SHAPE: Cylindrical on rectangular house --- tower rises 24 ft. above roof line

COLOR(S)/MARKINGS/PATTERN: White with red lantern top--- as seen in photo, originally was white with black trim

ORIGINAL LENS: Fourth Order, Fresnel --- now has 250mm plastic lens

NEAT CHARACTERISTICS: This light was never manned --- rather it was operated by a radio-beacon by the keepers at the Poe Reef Light.
