The small building attached to the tower is not large enough to have been the keeper's quarters, but one of the two large buildings nearby was.

LOCATION: 4 miles off East side of island, West side of Lake Huron

TOWER SHAPE: Conical --- 78 ft. tall

NEAT CHARACTERISTICS: Despite the fact that these USCG facilities have been abandoned for many years, they remain in remarkably good condition.  Members of the Middle Island Lighthouse Keepers Association are responsible for that, as they maintain this still active light.  They hope to turn the keeper's quarters into a bed and breakfast.  You can contact them at:  5671 Rockport Road, Alpena, MI  49707.
