This light kept in line with Frying Pan Island Light, which is 2 miles away, forms a range system for entering and leaving Detour Passage.

LOCATION: On SW side of Pipe Island, St. Marys River, SE of Sault Ste. Marie, between Lake Superior and Lake Huron

ORIGINAL LENS: Fifth Order, Fresnel

NEAT CHARACTERISTICS: In 1937 a steel skeleton was placed atop the original tower and this extended the height to 44ft.
