There are numerous lighthouses on the St. Mary's River and even more "homemade" aids like porch lights, yard lights, and street lights that mariners have always used to navigate these waters.

LOCATION: NW side of Round Island, lower St. Mary's River, Lake Superior

CURRENT USE: No longer in use --- privately owned

DEACTIVATED: 1926 --- replaced by a nearby light on a skeletal steel tower with a plastic lens

TOWER SHAPE: Square integral --- 35 ft. tall

COLOR(S)/MARKINGS/PATTERN: Buff with white trim and black lantern

ORIGINAL LENS: Lens lantern

NEAT CHARACTERISTICS: Although this lighthouse was built before the turn of the century, it is still a very sound, sturdy structure.
