We are proud to announce that several of our schools have received recognition from the Michigan Department of Education and the MiMTSS Technical Assistance Center for their excellence in MTSS—our Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework.
What Is MTSS?
MTSS is a districtwide system designed to support every student’s success—academically, behaviorally, and socially. It ensures that students get the right support at the right time: from strong classroom instruction to targeted help when they need it most. By using data and teamwork, MTSS helps teachers identify student needs early and respond quickly, creating consistent, predictable routines across all schools.
Celebrating Our Schools
This year, Chippewa Hills received awards in two key areas:
1. Data Utilization
Schools that excel in data utilization use screening and progress-monitoring information to make informed decisions about instruction and support. Our award-winning schools include:

2. Implementation and Impact
These awards recognize schools that show measurable success in putting MTSS practices into action, including universal classroom supports, targeted small-group interventions, and intensive support for students who need it most. Highlights include:
Barryton Elementary: Bronze in Tier 1–3 Behavior & Reading
Chippewa Hills Middle School: Silver in Tier 1 Behavior & Reading, Silver in Tier 2 Behavior
Mecosta Elementary: Bronze in Tier 1–2 Behavior & Reading

Why This Matters
These awards reflect the hard work of our teachers, staff, and administrators who collaborate every day to ensure that every student has the tools, instruction, and support they need to thrive. Strong MTSS systems mean fewer students falling through the cracks, more consistent learning experiences, and better outcomes for all learners.
We’re proud to see our schools recognized for these efforts, and we’re excited to continue building systems that help every Chippewa Hills student succeed.
