Let’s have some throwback fun this summer! Here’s a fun one to kick things off: The 1984 Basketball District Champions! The team went 23-1 that year and this was their second consecutive district title. Do you recognize any of these Warriors?

Warriors, please join us in wishing a massive GOOD LUCK to Warrior alum, Kristen (Hixson) Leland, as she competes in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the Pole Vault tomorrow! Kristin is a 2010 Chippewa Hills grad and still holds the school record in the pole vault! After high school she joined the team at Grand Valley State University where she became the NCAA Division II National Champion. Kristen has competed internationally for Team USA multiple times, winning the gold medal at the North American Central American Caribbean Games, and also competing in Europe, Mexico and Japan. This will be her third time participating in the Olympic trials. The U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the Women’s Pole Vault are on Friday, June 28 at 8:55 PM EST in Eugene, OR. The top 12 athletes will continue to the Finals on Sunday, June 30 at 6:15 PM EST. You can stream the trials live on the Peacock app under the Sports section and search for Trials: W Pole Vault Qual. A HUGE congratulations to Chippewa Hills’ first ever Skeet Shooting team who finished 2nd in the State Championships yesterday in Mason! Senior Robert Kelly is State Champion with a score of 99/100! Congratulations Warriors and best of luck today in the Trap Shooting division!!

Our Summer Feeding program begins today! We will be handing out 7-day food bags at Barryton, Mecosta, and Weidman Elementary each Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM. Food bags can also be picked up at our Middle School loading dock every Wednesday from 4-6 PM. These meals are available to all children 18 years of age and under or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled. Please help spread the word!

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE: Bus 20-4 out of Barryton had to be swapped out with bus 15-4 and is now running late.

REMINDER: Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5 are half days and Wednesday is the last day of school! The High School and Middle School will be released at 12:00 PM. Elementary Schools will be released at 12:15 PM.

NOTICE: Mecosta Elementary has gone into secure mode per directives from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department due to an outside incident. All students are safe. Please avoid the area.

Our Warrior Wellness Center is seeking volunteers to serve on its Community Advisory Council! The Community Advisory Council is made up of parents, school staff, healthcare professionals, social workers, and more! This group oversees the vision and goals of our school wellness program. Council members are only required to attend a minimum of 2 meetings per year. If you’re interested in joining the Community Advisory Council, please attend the next Council meeting on Wednesday, May 29 at 3:15 in the High School Media Center. If you’re unable to attend the meeting in person, please email qgriffin@dhd10.org for a link to attend the meeting virtually.

We want to inform the Warrior community that an incident occurred today involving bus 21-1, the brown bus out of Weidman, where a windshield shattered due to a rock that flew off a semi-truck. Fortunately, there were no injuries to any students or staff onboard. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of our passengers, and we want to commend our drivers for their swift and professional response in ensuring everyone remained safe. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Our May Board of Education Meeting is tonight at 6 PM in the High School Media Center.

REMINDER: Monday, May 13 is an early release day for students. The High School and Middle School will be released at 12:00 PM. Elementary Schools will be dismissed at 12:15 PM.

The Mobile Vaccine Clinic will be touring the District on these dates: - Monday, June 10: Mecosta Elementary, 10AM-3PM - Tuesday, June 11: Remus Mosaic School, 10AM-3PM - Wednesday, June 12: Weidman Elementary, 10AM-3PM - Thursday, June 13: Barryton Elementary, 10AM-3PM All Chippewa Hills District residents between the ages of 5-21 are eligible to participate. There are no out of pocket costs as all vaccines will be billed to your insurance or are free. Call 989-967-2290 to schedule your appointment today!
