A huge round of applause to 7th grader Will Cucksey and senior Mariah Farrell for taking home the top prizes in our Veterans Day writing contest! The writing contest was sponsored by the Mecosta Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Students were invited to write an essay, poem or letter on the following topic: Reflection the freedoms you value most and how they are protected by veterans’ sacrifices.

Today our Middle School and High School students honored and gave thanks to those who bravely served our country. Our Middle School Honor Society hosted a special Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony attended by many local veterans and active-duty military personnel. Students read passages recognizing the branches of the military and shared a video about the history and significance of Veterans Day. The high school band performed throughout the ceremony, including a moving rendition of Taps as we held a moment of silence for those who gave their lives for their country.
A special addition to this year’s ceremony was a writing contest sponsored by the Mecosta Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Students were invited to write a letter, essay, or poem on the topic: Reflect on the freedoms you value most and how they are protected by veterans sacrifices. First-place winner was 7th-grader Will Cucksey, who won a $100 prize for his letter to veterans. Senior Mariah Farrell wrote “A Thank You Poem” and won the second-place $50 cash prize. The awards were presented by Bev Rothenberger, Regent for the Mecosta Chapter of the NSDAR.
A special thank you to everyone who helped to make today’s program a success! Thank you to the veterans who were able to join us today, to our Middle School Honor Society for putting on today’s program, our local Honor Guard for presenting the flags during the ceremony, the Mecosta Chapter of the NSDAR for sponsoring our writing contest, and the Warrior Marching Band for today’s performances.
Most importantly, THANK YOU to all our nation’s veterans. Thank you for your service, your strength, and your sacrifices. You are appreciated beyond words.

Our Mosaic School students put their creativity and engineering skills to the test today! Mr. Cole’s Applied Physics class had fun making paper roller coasters while learning about the Law of Conservation of Energy.

Our Middle School & High School Veterans Day Celebration is on Monday! Please show your support by wearing your red, white & blue as we honor our veterans for their service to our country.
As a reminder, Monday’s celebration begins with a Veterans Breakfast at 9:30 AM in the Middle School Cafeteria. Our program will begin at 10:15 in the Middle School gym with all our middle school and high school students.
All veterans and active-duty military personnel are welcome and encouraged to attend! We hope you’ll join us!

Yesterday, our staff had to think outside the box – or cup, in this case – and drink their favorite beverages from anything but a cup! We saw lots of creative drink vessels, like science instruments, vases, ice cube trays, and even a toy toilet (yep, really!).
Anything But a Cup Day was a blast and we loved seeing all the creativity and fun from our team! Cheers!
Congratulations to freshman Dory Simon for running the #8 fastest girls 5K time in Chippewa Hills history!
Dory is a leader on the Varsity Girls Cross Country team. She helped lead the Warriors to the CSAA Red Conference Championship, earning First-Team All-Conference Honors. Dory placed 7th at Regionals, becoming an automatic qualifier for the State Finals. At the MHSAA State Finals, held on November 2 at Michigan International Speedway, Dory finished 31st in the Division 3 race, clocking in with a time of 19:20.7 – which is the #8 fastest girls 5K time in Chippewa Hills cross country history!

Our Warrior Wellness Center is seeking volunteers to serve on its Community Advisory Council!
The Community Advisory Council is made up of parents, school staff, healthcare professionals, social workers, and more! This group oversees the vision and goals of our school wellness program. Council members are only required to attend a minimum of 2 meetings per year.
If you’re interested in joining the Community Advisory Council, please attend the next Council meeting on Thursday, November 7 at 3:30 PM in the High School Media Center.
If you’re unable to attend the meeting in person, please email qgriffin@dhd10.org for a link to attend the meeting virtually.

All Chippewa Hills parents and guardians with a valid cell phone number should receive the text messages from the district. We’ve done 3 tests with text messages during our initial roll-out in October. If you are still not receiving our text messages, we’ve outlined a few troubleshooting tips to help ensure messages are being delivered to you.

Today is our Fall Orchestra Concert! Join us at 7 PM in the High School Auditorium for performances from both our Middle School and High School Orchestras!
Save the date! Our Middle School Honor Society is hosting a Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11. All veterans and active-duty military personnel are welcome and encouraged to attend! We’ll begin with a veterans breakfast in the Middle School cafeteria at 9:30 AM. Our assembly program will begin at 10:15 AM with all our Middle School and High School students.
⭐ Middle School and High School students may invite a special veteran to attend and can join their guest for breakfast before the assembly.

⭐ During the ceremony we’ll play a slideshow featuring pictures of veterans and active-duty military from our community or who are special to our students. Please be aware that buses 18-2 and 18-3 from Barryton were involved in a minor accident in the parking lot this afternoon. There were no injuries and only minor damage reported.

When it comes to school transportation, the greatest risk to a child isn’t riding a school bus. It’s approaching or leaving one.
Yellow lights on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop. If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children.
See the school bus stop-arm? Time to STOP! Racing past the arm puts young lives in jeopardy.
Please slow down and be aware of school buses on the road and help keep our Warriors safe!
