🎉 Congratulations to 7th grader Shaniya Lucas! 🎉
Shaniya was recognized today by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department for Outstanding Female Performance in this summer’s Mt. Pleasant Youth Police Academy! Her award was proudly presented by Officer Chris Leonard from the Youth Services Unit.
Shaniya earned this honor not only for her outstanding performance as a cadet, but also because she was always quick to look out for her teammates and lend a hand to struggling cadets.
The Mt. Pleasant Youth Police Academy is a free, hands-on program for students entering grades 6–8 who are interested in law enforcement. Cadets experience the academy just like real recruits, including physical training, agility tests, classroom lessons, and demonstrations from specialized units like SWAT, K-9, and marine patrol. The program emphasizes teamwork, integrity, compassion, and discipline—values Shaniya clearly exemplified this summer.
Great job, Shaniya! We’re so proud of you—way to be a true Warrior! ❤️💙

This November, Chippewa Hills voters will decide on a bond proposal that addresses some of our district’s most pressing needs. With nearly 1,800 students learning in buildings that range from modern spaces to schools built in the 1930s, it’s time to ensure our facilities reflect the needs of today’s learners and tomorrow’s opportunities.
The bond proposal focuses on three key areas:
✅ Safety & Security – Updated entrances, secure learning spaces, and improved emergency systems.
✅ Facility Upgrades – Repairing and modernizing aging buildings to provide safe, reliable learning spaces.
✅ Community Space – Expanding gym space so students don’t have to practice late into the evening, while also creating facilities the whole community can use.
This is a responsible investment in our children, our schools, and the future of Chippewa Hills—without raising the current tax rate. The proposal maintains the levy at 2.41 mills, one of the lowest rates in the area.
📅 Election Day is November 4.

Last week we shared that all students would receive free breakfast and lunch for the full school year. We’ve since learned that this funding is currently only guaranteed through September 30, 2025.
Until then, every Warrior will enjoy free breakfast and lunch at school. After September 30, the state legislature will determine whether funding for meals will continue.
To prepare for any outcome, we strongly urge families to complete and return the Child Nutrition and Benefits Application (linked on our website here: https://aptg.co/z4Xjx_). This helps determine if your child qualifies for free or reduced-price meals and also provides important support for school funding.
Families are also encouraged to contact their legislators and share how important this program is for students.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep you updated with the most accurate information.
