❤️ Choosing Kind, Every Day 💙

Mecosta Elementary Peer to Peer students hosted Inclusivity Week last week, encouraging kindness, empathy, and connection throughout our school community. Activities included sitting with someone new at lunch, playing with different classmates at recess, writing compliments or drawing happy pictures for others, sharing something unique about themselves, and even trying to write with their non-dominant hand to build understanding and perspective.

The week concluded with a school-wide unity day, during which every student and staff member received a “We Are Warriors” bracelet delivered by Peer to Peer students.

The students said it best: “Choose kind, even when it’s hard.”

🎉 Celebrating Dawn Hawley 🎉

After 24 years of dedicated service to Chippewa Hills, we are proud to celebrate the retirement of Dawn Hawley, Mosaic School Principal and Chippewa Hills High School Assistant Principal.

Throughout her career, Dawn has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Director of Adult and Community Education and Intermediate School Assistant Principal, before becoming Assistant Principal at the high school in 2008. Her leadership has touched countless students, staff, and families across our district.

Dawn shared that what she will miss most is the people—students and staff who became more like family than colleagues. And one piece of advice she leaves behind? If you’ve never experienced a sunset at Warrior Stadium, you need to go.

She is most proud of her work with Mosaic School and the transformation it has made over the years to offer a truly unique alternative learning program. Watching students overcome obstacles and walk across the stage to receive their diplomas is something she will always carry with her.

Her words of wisdom are a reminder to all of us:
“Every day is a new day—embrace the opportunity for a fresh start. Remember to have some fun along the way… sing in the sunshine, dance in the rain, jump in the puddles, and make some memories.”

In retirement, Dawn plans to continue serving others while spending more time with her family, playing music with friends, and pursuing certification as a music practitioner.

Thank you, Dawn, for your leadership, passion, and commitment to our students and community. Your impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

Congratulations on your retirement and we wish you all the best as you begin your new chapter! ❤️💙

🎉 Celebrating Geryl Lobert 🎉

After 25 years of dedication to Chippewa Hills, we are proud to celebrate the retirement of Geryl Lobert, High School English Teacher.

Throughout her career, Geryl has been deeply involved in every aspect of school life. From her first year at MOSAIC to serving as High School English Department Chair, MCYAC and Forensics Advisor, Girls Golf Coach, and School Improvement Coordinator, her impact has reached far beyond the classroom. She has also been a leader at the district and professional level, serving in MTSS roles, as CHEA Secretary and Building Rep., MCTE President, and as a Teacher Consultant with the National Writing Project.

When asked what she’ll miss most, Geryl shared it’s her colleagues—the people she’s worked alongside and built strong relationships with over the years.

She is most proud of her students—watching them grow from freshmen into graduates, reach their potential, and continue to stay connected long after leaving Chippewa Hills. Those lasting relationships speak to the kind of teacher she has been.

Her advice to fellow educators is thoughtful and grounded:
“Find your people. Surround yourself with great colleagues in and out of school, stand up for what is in the best interest of kids, and make time to read.”

In retirement, Geryl is looking forward to writing and finishing several projects she’s been working on—with hopes of publishing her work. She’s also excited to spend more time with her grandchildren, cheering them on at games and events and reading to the little ones.

🎉 Celebrating Laurie Stuart 🎉

After more than 23 years of service to Chippewa Hills, we are proud to celebrate the retirement of Laurie Stuart, Head Cook at Barryton Elementary.

Laurie’s journey with our district began behind the wheel as a school bus driver, before she found her way into the kitchen—first serving lunches at the Intermediate School, then as Assistant Cook, and eventually stepping into the role of Head Cook at Barryton. Over the years, she has been a steady and caring presence for generations of students.

When asked what she’ll miss most, Laurie shared it’s the smiling faces of the children and watching them grow over the years. She’ll also miss the friendships she built along the way—relationships that meant even more during her cancer treatment, when she was surrounded by incredible support from her Chippewa Hills family.

Her advice to others is simple and meaningful:
“Always give 100% and treat each other the way you would want to be treated.”

In retirement, Laurie is looking forward to spending time with family, golfing, and traveling.

Thank you, Laurie, for the care, dedication, and heart you’ve given to our students and staff over the past two decades.

Wishing you all the best in this next chapter—you’ve earned it! ❤️💙

🎉 Celebrating Lisa Stickler 🎉

After 30 years of service, we are proud to honor and congratulate Lisa Stickler on her retirement from Chippewa Hills!

A proud Chippewa Hills graduate herself, Lisa has dedicated her entire career to serving the students and staff of our district. Throughout the years, she has supported multiple buildings—from Central Office to the Middle School, Intermediate, and High School—always serving as a steady, reliable presence behind the scenes as an Administrative Assistant.

Lisa’s impact goes far beyond her current role as High School Principal’s Administrative Assistant. While working in Central Office, she created many of the internal graphics, forms, and flyers used across the district, and even designed the original district calendar that is still in use today.

She also made a lasting impact outside the office, coaching Junior High Cheerleading and leading our Junior and Senior High Equestrian teams for 15 years. Under her leadership, teams qualified for Regionals 13 times and State Finals 11 times—an incredible accomplishment!

When asked what she’ll miss most, Lisa shared it’s the people—both the colleagues she’s worked alongside and the students who made each day meaningful. She takes special pride in the relationships she built with students who needed a little extra encouragement to make it to graduation, helping them cross that finish line.

Her advice for future generations of Warriors is powerful: “Life is about choices. Choose wisely, because one of those choices will define your future.”

In retirement, Lisa is looking forward to traveling with her husband and spending time with her family—especially at horse shows with her daughter and grandchildren.

Thank you, Lisa, for 30 years of dedication and care for the students and staff in our schools. Your impact on Chippewa Hills will be felt for years to come.

Best wishes as you begin this exciting new chapter! ❤️💙
