📢 Volunteers needed! 📢 Our Warrior Wellness Center is seeking volunteers to serve on its Community Advisory Council! The Community Advisory Council is made up of parents, school staff, healthcare professionals, social workers, and more! This group oversees the vision and goals of our school wellness program. Council members are only required to attend a minimum of 2 meetings per year. If you’re interested in joining the Community Advisory Council, please attend the next Council meeting on Thursday, November 7 at 3:30 PM in the High School Media Center. If you’re unable to attend the meeting in person, please email qgriffin@dhd10.org for a link to attend the meeting virtually.

Have you received our text message tests? All Chippewa Hills parents and guardians with a valid cell phone number should receive the text messages from the district. We’ve done 3 tests with text messages during our initial roll-out in October. If you are still not receiving our text messages, we’ve outlined a few troubleshooting tips to help ensure messages are being delivered to you. Today is our Fall Orchestra Concert! Join us at 7 PM in the High School Auditorium for performances from both our Middle School and High School Orchestras!

Save the date! Our Middle School Honor Society is hosting a Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11. All veterans and active-duty military personnel are welcome and encouraged to attend! We’ll begin with a veterans breakfast in the Middle School cafeteria at 9:30 AM. Our assembly program will begin at 10:15 AM with all our Middle School and High School students. ⭐ Middle School and High School students may invite a special veteran to attend and can join their guest for breakfast before the assembly. For breakfast planning, please RSVP to Candy Recker by calling the Middle School Office at 989-967-2200 or email crecker@chsd.us. Please RSVP by November 7. ⭐ During the ceremony we’ll play a slideshow featuring pictures of veterans and active-duty military from our community or who are special to our students. To submit a picture, please email your photo and a description of the individual (name, military branch, years of service) to Bob O’Neil at roneil@chsd.us by November 4. ⭐ The Mecosta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring a writing contest for our Middle and High School students. Students are invited to write an essay, poem or letter on the following topic: Reflect on the freedoms you value most and how they are protected by veterans’ sacrifices. The first-place winner will receive a $100 cash prize and second-place will receive $50. Both winners will be invited to read their essay at the Veterans Day Assembly. Entries are due to the Middle or High School offices by noon on November 4. We hope you’ll join us for this special celebration as we honor who served!

Please be aware that buses 18-2 and 18-3 from Barryton were involved in a minor accident in the parking lot this afternoon. There were no injuries and only minor damage reported.

Parents, if you did NOT receive the text, please update your cell phone information by calling your child’s school or filling out this form: https://chsd.us/forms/text-alerts-parent-cell-phone-information. We have one more test scheduled for next Wednesday, October 30 at 12 PM. This allows all our Warrior families time to update their cell phone information with the school if needed. After our October rollout, text message alerts will only be used for urgent communications like school closures and delays, power outages, emergency cancellations, building lockdowns, etc. If you want to be ensure you're able to receive district texts, please update your cell phone number with the school by Tuesday, October 29 so you can receive the final test message on October 30.

Are your costumes ready? Family Halloween Night is this Sunday from 4-6 PM. Bring the kiddos to trick or treat through the entire high school! We’ll also have games, treats, and a haunted house for the older children! The trick-or-treating event is FREE and family friendly! Haunted House Pricing: $3/person or $10 for a group of 4 (or $2 per extra person for a group more than 4). Please note, the haunted house is scary and not intended for younger children.

It’s National School Bus Safety Week! When it comes to school transportation, the greatest risk to a child isn’t riding a school bus. It’s approaching or leaving one. Yellow lights on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop. If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children. See the school bus stop-arm? Time to STOP! Racing past the arm puts young lives in jeopardy. Please slow down and be aware of school buses on the road and help keep our Warriors safe!

Our Fall Band Concert is TODAY!!! Please join us at 7 PM in the Middle School gym to see performances from our 7th and 8th grade bands, and our High School Marching Band!

REMINDER: Monday, October 21 is an early release day. The High School and Middle School are released at 12:00 PM. Elementary Schools are released at 12:15 PM.

Our Wellness Center's Vaccine Clinic is tomorrow! The clinic will be held in the Middle School Library from 12-4 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to avoid long wait times. Call 989-967-2290 to schedule an appointment today!

Our October Board of Education meeting is tonight at 7:00 PM at Mecosta Elementary.

The Middle School and High School complex was placed under a brief lockdown this afternoon out of an abundance of caution due to a student discipline issue.
