📣 School Meal Funding Update for 2025-26

This past school year, the State of Michigan provided funding for free meals for all students. The School Aid Budget for the upcoming 2025-26 school year has not yet been finalized and it’s unclear if this funding will continue.

This means there is a possibility that school meals may no longer be free for everyone.

To prepare for any outcome, we’re asking ALL Warrior families to complete the Child Nutrition and Education Benefit Application. This quick, confidential form helps determine if your child qualifies for free or reduced-priced meals. It also ensures our school receives important state and federal funding tied to this application.

A green paper copy was included with your registration paperwork or you can download a copy on our website here: https://aptg.co/z4Xjx_. Completed forms can be turned in to your school office with your registration paperwork.

Filling out this one simple form has a big impact for your family and our entire Warrior community.

Thank you for your help, Warriors.

📚 Investing in Our Readers! 📚

This week, three of our elementary reading specialists had the incredible opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Anita Archer — one of the most respected voices in education and the author of Phonics for Reading.

Tonya Swan-Flachs (Barryton Elementary), Laura Wauldron (Weidman Elementary), and Lisa Dore (Mecosta Elementary) attended Dr. Archer’s training to gain expert strategies to bring the Phonics for Reading program to life in our classrooms. This research-based approach will help our young readers build confidence, fluency, and a lifelong love of reading.

We’re excited for these dedicated teachers to bring their new skills back to our schools — and so grateful for their commitment to helping every Warrior shine as a reader! ❤️💙
