The holiday season is a time for joy, but it can also bring stress or challenges. If you’re in need of support, the Chippewa Hills community is here for you! Our High School Counseling Office maintains a list of resources available in and around the Chippewa Hills community to help with mental health, food assistance, housing, and clothing. The full list is available on our website here: https://www.chsd.us/o/chhs/page/counseling-office-community-resources You can also access this list via the CHSD Warriors app, under the Documents tab on the District page. This time of year can be especially challenging, but please remember — you don’t have to go through it alone. Today, Mrs. Karcher's Life After High School class rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on in the kitchen, working together to make delicious breakfast burritos! Students had to plan the meal, decide who was bringing what, and cook together as a class. From cooking bacon to scrambling eggs and wrapping it all up, everyone played a part in creating a tasty meal—and learning some valuable teamwork and cooking skills along the way. They enjoyed their creation together and then cleaned up their mess! This trimester will be full of learning life skills, college and career readiness, guest speakers, and other topics to get them ready to enter "the real world" in May!

Letter to a Veteran by Will Cucksey
A Thank You Poem by Mariah Farrell
Happy Veterans Day! Today our Middle School and High School students honored and gave thanks to those who bravely served our country. Our Middle School Honor Society hosted a special Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony attended by many local veterans and active-duty military personnel. Students read passages recognizing the branches of the military and shared a video about the history and significance of Veterans Day. The high school band performed throughout the ceremony, including a moving rendition of Taps as we held a moment of silence for those who gave their lives for their country. A special addition to this year’s ceremony was a writing contest sponsored by the Mecosta Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Students were invited to write a letter, essay, or poem on the topic: Reflect on the freedoms you value most and how they are protected by veterans sacrifices. First-place winner was 7th-grader Will Cucksey, who won a $100 prize for his letter to veterans. Senior Mariah Farrell wrote “A Thank You Poem” and won the second-place $50 cash prize. The awards were presented by Bev Rothenberger, Regent for the Mecosta Chapter of the NSDAR. A special thank you to everyone who helped to make today’s program a success! Thank you to the veterans who were able to join us today, to our Middle School Honor Society for putting on today’s program, our local Honor Guard for presenting the flags during the ceremony, the Mecosta Chapter of the NSDAR for sponsoring our writing contest, and the Warrior Marching Band for today’s performances. Most importantly, THANK YOU to all our nation’s veterans. Thank you for your service, your strength, and your sacrifices. You are appreciated beyond words.
