In Mr. Shephard’s Life After High School class, students don’t just talk about real-world skills—they practice them. Last week, the class rolled up their sleeves for a lesson on how to do an oil change, led by senior Paul Webster. 🙌
Practical, hands-on learning that gets our Warriors ready for life beyond CHHS! 💙❤️

🌟 Why This Bond Matters Now 🌟
This November, Chippewa Hills voters will consider a zero mill increase bond proposal. That means important safety and facility upgrades can move forward without raising the current tax rate of 2.41 mills.
Why now?
➡️ Zero Mill Increase — as existing debt is paid off, this bond can be structured at no increase to the current tax rate.
➡️ Delays = Higher Future Costs — construction and repair costs grow every year; delaying only makes future projects more expensive.
➡️ Safety Can’t Wait — updated entrances and modern emergency systems are urgent needs to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
This is a rare opportunity to address critical needs, improve learning spaces, and expand community facilities—all while keeping the tax rate the same.

This year, 29 students are part of our high school's brand-new Drones class—a hands-on science course where they’re learning engineering, coding, physics, and robotics by exploring the world of drones.
With 20 drones in the classroom, students work in teams to build skills in coding flight paths, studying flight physics, and understanding real-world applications. Guest speakers from local industries will also share how drones are used in fields like agriculture, construction, and public safety.
This exciting opportunity was made possible through the generosity of the Mecosta County Community Foundation and the Touchstone Energy Classroom STEAM Grant from Tri-County HomeWorks. Thank you for bringing Drones to CHHS!

From May 1st to August 8th, all players from 5th grade to 12th grade had an opportunity to complete shooting and ball handling workouts. Videos were posted for players to follow and log their progress. The top goal was to make 20,000 shots, the secondary goal was to make 15,000. Over the course of the 100 days we logged 304,827 made baskets with 13,997 minutes of ball handling.
The 20,000 Club includes: Junior Kyle Dagley (24,595), Senior Jaxon Arntz (23,055), Sophomore Logan PeLong (22,090), Senior Maverick Chapman (21,005), 5th grader Jace Denslow (20,577), Senior Brian Gardner (20,300), 8th grader Lily Darnell (20,128), Freshman Connor Dantzer (20,100), 8th grader Gavin Dagley (20,015), Senior Luke Grinnell (20,000), Freshman Jadrick Flowers (20,000).
The 15,000 Club was 8th grader Will Cucksey (16,400).
Kyle Dagley recorded the most makes, and it should be noted Maverick Chapman had elbow surgery and still found a way to get up the makes with his off hand.
We can't wait to see all the hard work pay off this winter. Great job, Warriors! 🙌

These four earned their spot on the Pencil Wall of Fame last week for their outstanding effort — from handwriting and spelling to writing, hard work, and staying on point! ✏️
Keep up the amazing work, Warriors! 🙌

🏛️ Senator Hauck Visits the Chippewa Hills Wellness Center 🏛️
Last Friday, we welcomed Senator Roger Hauck to the Chippewa Hills Wellness Center for a tour and conversation about the vital services Adolescent Health Centers provide across Michigan.
Senator Hauck met with parents, teachers, administrators, and board members to hear firsthand how much our Wellness Center supports students. As one of the busiest centers in the region, it gives our Warriors access to same-day care for injuries or illness, immunizations, sports physicals, and—most importantly—mental health support.
Having these services available right here in our building means students don’t have to travel 30+ minutes to Mt. Pleasant or Big Rapids for care. We are grateful to Senator Hauck for taking the time to visit and see the difference our Wellness Center makes in the lives of Chippewa Hills students every day.

A huge thank you to Ty Jose and the McGuire family for donating two brand-new microwaves for our high school cafeteria! Thanks to their generosity, students can warm up their lunches during the school day—and our Warriors are already putting them to good use.
It’s a true example of “see a need, fill a need”—and the kind of community spirit that makes Warrior Nation so special. ❤️💙

We’re excited to introduce Rachel Dale, our new Mental Health Professional at Chippewa Hills High School and Mosaic School! Rachel started her career as a music teacher and later earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health from Central Michigan University. Inspired by the counselors who helped her own children, she’s thrilled to bring that same guidance and support to our students.
When she’s not at school, Rachel enjoys the outdoors, lives on a hobby farm in Mt. Pleasant, and spends plenty of time cheering on her six children at their sporting events.
We’re so glad to have Rachel join the Warrior family—welcome, Rachel! ❤️💙

🎉 Congratulations to 7th grader Shaniya Lucas! 🎉
Shaniya was recognized today by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department for Outstanding Female Performance in this summer’s Mt. Pleasant Youth Police Academy! Her award was proudly presented by Officer Chris Leonard from the Youth Services Unit.
Shaniya earned this honor not only for her outstanding performance as a cadet, but also because she was always quick to look out for her teammates and lend a hand to struggling cadets.
The Mt. Pleasant Youth Police Academy is a free, hands-on program for students entering grades 6–8 who are interested in law enforcement. Cadets experience the academy just like real recruits, including physical training, agility tests, classroom lessons, and demonstrations from specialized units like SWAT, K-9, and marine patrol. The program emphasizes teamwork, integrity, compassion, and discipline—values Shaniya clearly exemplified this summer.
Great job, Shaniya! We’re so proud of you—way to be a true Warrior! ❤️💙

This November, Chippewa Hills voters will decide on a bond proposal that addresses some of our district’s most pressing needs. With nearly 1,800 students learning in buildings that range from modern spaces to schools built in the 1930s, it’s time to ensure our facilities reflect the needs of today’s learners and tomorrow’s opportunities.
The bond proposal focuses on three key areas:
✅ Safety & Security – Updated entrances, secure learning spaces, and improved emergency systems.
✅ Facility Upgrades – Repairing and modernizing aging buildings to provide safe, reliable learning spaces.
✅ Community Space – Expanding gym space so students don’t have to practice late into the evening, while also creating facilities the whole community can use.
This is a responsible investment in our children, our schools, and the future of Chippewa Hills—without raising the current tax rate. The proposal maintains the levy at 2.41 mills, one of the lowest rates in the area.
📅 Election Day is November 4.
